How to Report Crimes or Emergencies

You may report criminal activity and other emergencies directly to Security (1) by telephone, (2) in person, (3) by email, or (4) by filling out a web form.

1. The most expedient means of communication is by telephone. Security can be reach from any campus phone by pressing the button marked SECURITY or by dialing x6400. To reach Security from off campus, dial 847/317-6400. Security is always reachable by touch-tone phone, even when away from the office, by pressing option 1 from the prompt menu. Keep in mind though that this communication is over the radio and is therefore not on a secure line.
2. The second option is to stop by the Security Office, located at the entrance of campus. Security personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If no one is in the office at the time, you can contact the officer on duty by using the telephone in the yellow case by the door. This will also be communicated over the radio, so keep in mind that it is not a secure line.
3. The last option, though not as quick, may be preferred by some individuals. You can contact Security via e-mail at security@tiu.edu.
