Distance Students: How to Request

Are you registered?

  • In order to request books or articles via this service you must have a patron account in TrinCat.  
  • To check and see if you have an account, go to the My Account  area in TrinCat.  
  • You will need to enter your Trinity ID number and Last Name.
  • Make sure that your address is correct.
  • If you don't have an account you can register using our Patron Registration form.
  • You must be a current student (paying tuition or continuation fees) in order to register.
  • You will be contacted by our staff when your registration is completed.

Requesting Books Owned by Trinity

  1. Go to your local library first
    • Students are asked to use the Interlibrary Loan Service of their local library first.
    • Benefits of using your local library for ILL:
      • Cost should be less. (See point 10 below.)
      • Delivery of books may be more prompt if your public library can find them in-state.
      • The local library assumes responsibility for books lost or damaged in the mail.
  2. Only books from Rolfing Library's main collection are available for loan to Distance students.
  3. Open TrinCat
  4. Search for the book you are looking for.
  5. Click on Place Request
  6. Login using your Trinity ID # and Last Name.
  7. Select "Distance Ed Request Form."
  8. Type in your Trinity ID one more time and click "Submit Request"
  9. The book will be mailed to the address in your Library Patron Record.  To check the address listed view your Patron Record.
  10. You will need to pay for postage BOTH DIRECTIONS at the Library shipping rate.  Your patron account will be billed for outgoing postage. You will be held responsible for the cost of any book that you ship that is lost in the mail by the post office.  Therefore, we recommend you purchase insurance for the package.

Articles in Databases and Journals Owned by Trinity

  1. If the journal is available online you can access it directly. 
  2. Check TrinCat to make sure that the article is a journal Trinity has IN PRINT ONLY.
  3. Open the Distance Education Request for Articles.
  4. Fill in the required fields and submit.
  5. All articles will be emailed to your Trinity GroupWise email account, NO EXCEPTIONS.  If you have another email account that you use, see the instructions for setting up a rule to forward all emails from your Trinity account to another email account.
  6. You will need Adobe® Reader® Reader in order to view the article.
  7. The cost of this service is $1.00 per article.

Articles in Databases and Journals Not Owned by Trinity

Fill out the TrinCat Article Request form.
