    Dori L. Karlesky, PhD

    Dori L. Karlesky is associate professor of chemistry and the chair of the Chemistry Department at Trinity International University's Trinity College. She came to Trinity after holding a number of teaching positions, including visiting assistant professor at Millikin University and instructor at St. Petersburg Junior College.

     

    Dr. Karlesky earned the Doctor of Philosophy in analytical chemistry at Texas A & M University and the Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Wheaton College. She also graduated an ACS certified professional chemist.

     

    Dr. Karlesky's areas of expertise include high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GCMS). She is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Midwestern Association of Chemistry Teachers in Liberal Arts Colleges, and the American Scientific Affiliation.

     

    Dr. Karlesky also has a committed interest in Christian camping and has been involved with various camps since 1983. She has served as a member of the board of directors and has participated in camp by being on the summer staff. As an activity specialist, she is involved in teach aquatics, emergency rescue techniques, and other camp skills to adults and children. She has been the camp director for Land o’ Sunshine Camp Cherith in Florida and a visiting camp director for Oregon and NeKaMo Camp Cherith. She has been a member of the American Camping Association and Christian Camping International.

     

    Most recently Dr. Karlesky’s interest in science and camping has led her to institute a chemistry day camp at Trinity—with the cooperation of the education department—for home schooled children. She has also been instrumental in involving college students in a "kids and chemistry" program at Bannockburn Elementary School. She has instructed at a science camp at Huron Forest Camp Cherith in Michigan and is currently directing science camps at Adirondack and Western New York Camp Cheriths.
