    Steven D. Fratt, PhD

    Steven D. Fratt is director of the School of Humanities, chair of the History Department, and associate professor of history at Trinity International University's Trinity College. He came to Trinity in 1990 as an assistant professor after working in a number of other teaching positions. In 1993 he was promoted to his current position.

     

    Dr. Fratt earned the Doctor of History and the Master of Arts from the University of California at Santa Barbara, California. He received the Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and history from Westmont College.

     

    Dr. Fratt's areas of expertise include battle tactics in the American Civil War, Western European intellectual history, history of science, history of warfare, and philosophy of history. He has contributed a number of articles to publications such as Strategy & Tactics. These include "Conflict Analysis: The American Civil War: The Strategic Setting," "Tactical Doctrine" and "Weapons of the American Civil War."

     

    Dr. Fratt has written and performed a one-person show on Civil War General, Joshua L. Chamberlain. Dr. Fratt continues to research the battle of Gettysburg and serves as a corporal in his Civil War reenacting unit.
