Multicultural Development

The Multicultural Development Office plans special speakers, movies, Chicago outings, forums, and celebrations that broaden perspectives and foster meaningful dialogues within our community. One multicultural group of students recently traveled by bus on a "Sankofa Journey," named for a mythical African bird that moves forward only by looking back. Together with staff members, the group visited sites important to the civil rights movement and spent time in discussion, prayer, worship, and reflection. The experience led to honest and powerful conversations that impacted all who went.

Trinity's Multicultural Development Office seeks to serve its students from the "Inside Out."
Inside

Unity in diversity begins with one's inward transformation in Christ. God has given us every imaginable blessing through Jesus Christ's salvation. WE must know whose we are and who we are in Christ.  (Eph. 1:3)

Out

Only when our identity is firmly grounded in Christ can we begin to demonstrate the unity in Christ through our outward expression with others. We begin by breaking down walls, eliminating cultural ignorance, and seeking to embrace others.
(Ps 133:1)

Although we are unified in Christ, we are not the same. God has created us as unique individuals with different backgrounds and gifts in order to serve him and one another. Once we understand this reality, we can begin to live transformed from the inside out, enjoying the unity in our diversity.
